Oh ho ho ho...
May. 16th, 2007 11:20 pmWe had our first tornado watch since 1989 today. Considering how severe weather phobic I am, I think I handled it pretty well. I don't think there was a single tornado warning for that entire watch period, but I wouldn't know what happened in the last hour and a half, since we lost power for 5 hours when the storms actually made it here! It was all over so fast that the storm itself felt like nothing, even though it supposedly had 70 mph wind gusts(probably because it was moving at near 50 mph), but we lost power from 4:35 PM to about 9:45 PM, and when the electricity finally went back on, they were saying on the news that there was possible tornado damage in Naugatuck, Prospect, and Bethany, which all border my hometown to the west...heh heh heh... Apparently, 70% of Cheshire lost power. I feel bad for the 37% that still doesn't have it. They had news crews here and everything, so I feel kind of special, considering that Cheshire is kind of in the boonies. I'm just glad to have running water back! Granted, this wasn't nearly as bad as this past April, where we lost power for 17 hours...
The power outages here are becoming ridiculous. Back, when Connecticut Light and Power actually kept up on trimming the trees(they even made us cut down all the trees in our front yard) we never had power outages, even in the worst storms. Now it happens all the time.
