But just like every other severe weather outbreak that's hit Connecticut in the past year, all the storms oozed around Cheshire like the parting of the Red Sea. We got some nice rain later with a few rumbly thunders, but other than that... It was quite funny, watching the weather and seeing the doppler radar with all these horrible storms to the north and south and west, and this big blank space where New Haven County is. Unfortunately, we're bordering on drought conditions now...but we did get some nice rain today.

I find it odd when I watch the news after one of these stormy days and hear about trees down here and there and people without power all over the state...but I can't remember the last time we've lost power because of the weather. Usually, it's because of some dope driving into a utility pole while talking on their cell phone or something.

And Cheshire used to be the power outage capital of New England. Do you know why it isn't anymore? Because Connecticut Light and Power forced us to cut down our trees! Granted, they paid for it... But every now and then, (I think they did it around the time of Hurricane Isabel), they come and leave a sign on our door, saying they're cutting our trees down again...but we don't have trees anymore!

Well, not big ones. I planted smaller shrubs in their places. Granted, I was furious when they said what they were doing, and thought we should fight it, but it sure is nice not to have blackouts when we have thunderstorms!

So Chesire's like some odd pocket that pushes away bad weather...? Hnh. Over here in Puerto Rico, we have a chain of mountains right smack in the middle of the island, which cause most hurricanes to... erm... head to Cuba and Florida. [feels guilty]

Oh dear.

[has now got Queen in his head]

I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the elevation? Every time I leave New Haven County, my ears pop. I think Cheshire is practically at sea level, but Litchfield County(which borders New York State, so almost all storms have to pass through it to get here) is full of hills and mountains and things. It's very pretty, but every time I go there, there are more downed trees.
