I need Chinese tree peony "Red Lotus" right away. If I don't have it, I will perish. Why is life so rough for peony collectors? I'm sure that collectors of other plants don't have to deal with never being able to get the plant of their dreams because it costs close to 200-freaking dollars!

::perishes::

::revives:: I'm going to have a rerooted Frankie up for sale soon. She has the same hairstyle as my green-haired Frankie, except her hair is mostly blue. I just finished rerooting her yesterday. I'm planning on doing a Draculaura and a Nefera for sale eventually. But right now, I'm drilling holes in a Fashion Royalty doll's head, LOL.

Snow Lotus is pretty sexy, too.

I love tree peonies. Can't afford many of them, and they don't like my clay, so I grow them in containers where they do much better.

What kind of tree peonies do you have? My three are all Chinese tree peonies...I got all but one from Goldenport International as fairly young plants. Unfortunately, they shut down a few years after I got Lan Hudie. Cricket Hill sells older plants but their selection isn't as good and they're very, very expensive...

All of a sudden, this year, after 8 years, they decided to become proper shrubs. ^^;;;;;;

I've seen a lutea hybrid(High Noon) in person but never a Japanese tree peony. I'm intrigued by Shima-nishiki(which is probably supposed to be "Striped Brocade" and not "Island Brocade") but I've heard that it's only arbitrarily striped...I'd hate to have it revert like one of those striped Gallica roses!

CharMarron Gardens, this lady is terrific, and she sends good big roots on both her herbaceous and her tree peonies.

I have the listing somewhere of what I got, and I've lost one plant that was a smaller, weaker grower, but I was looking at the dark reds. This is one of them.

This is another one I got, and it's been blooming for me.

Wu Long Peng Sheng is one the ones I've been eyeing this year, because it's pretty and (comparatively) affordable. Cricket Hill has a young one for $48, plus older ones for $69 and $89...maybe I should try shopping around in a few months, if I can afford it then. ::laughs::

Cricket Hill is sky-high as far as the prices go, but I think they do all their peony-grafting themselves.

I'm really confused about the white tree peony I got from Goldenport...it's been blooming single for at least 5 years even though it's supposed to have crown-shaped flowers(and did bloom correctly the first few years) I worried that it had suffered graft failure, but I don't even know if it was a grafted peony, or if Goldenport uses Phoenix White as rootstock. I know that both my peony and Phoenix White are ostii hybrids...maybe it'll go back to normal later, LOL.

I've been pining for Hong Lian, the red rockii twin of my beloved purple tree peony, but $149 is a little high for me! I'm forcing myself to only get two herbaceous peonies this year--Prairie Moon and Amalia Olson.
