Around 11:30 this morning, I was sitting around, drinking a cup of tea and bemoaning the fact that I have to make a hotel-style turkey breast for everybody when I heard something that sounded like...thunder? I looked outside, but the sky was blue. We worried that it was our furnace acting up, but it sounded so much like thunder... And then we heard the news about the power plant explosion in Middletown.
What an awful incident. It must have been terrible if we heard the explosion all the way in Cheshire. It's a good thing my brother wasn't at his apartment--he lives all the way on the other side of Middletown, but my mother would have been frantic anyway. Five people dying is still too many, but I can't imagine what it would have been like if the explosion had occurred on a weekday.
