Oh ho ho...that's the way I've been spending my holidays. I'm almost done, I'm almost done! Also, I got the JP version of Final Fantasy 4 Advance, which has a data-erasing bug that I managed to find out about before I did anything too stupid to trigger it. I wonder if the US version has the same bug? Ah, well, if anybody on my friends' list wants to know how to trigger(or avoid triggering)this nasty little bug, I'll tell you if you ask real nice...

Anyway, I'm almost done with Jay's Character Quest in Legendia. Yep, I've been zipping on ahead...

I didn't care for Chloe's Character Quest, mainly because she was acting like a giant passive-aggressive wanker and made everybody go and comfort her even after she ran Senel through with her sword because he got in the way of her "revenge". It just made me really not like Chloe. Any time a character(or a real person) acts like an emo moron and when people try to comfort/help them, say that "Your kindness is causing me pain" or "I'm just so angry/sad/depressed that your kind words are just hurting me now, and I can't accept them" is a WANKER. What is this, Gundam Wing? Chloe can run Senel through and we're all supposed to worry about her? There were some serious lapses in logic there. If Alcott was really sorry about the fact that he killed Chloe's parents in an attempted armed robbery, then why didn't he write in his letter to Chloe "I'm sorry, I killed your parents because I needed the money for my daughter's medicine, it was an unforgivable thing to do and I'll never forgive myself for it, you have every right to want revenge but I need to live for my daughter's sake" instead of "Come and get me if you're ready. And bring your sword!" Also, if Chloe was on to the fact that Alcott=Stingle, then why didn't she wait until Elza was better and then confront him and demand to know his intentions?

Oh, yeah, it was the black fog!

Maybe I didn't find Chloe's desire for revenge convincing because I didn't find her voice very convincing.

As for Moses's Character Quest, it was a little better. It didn't make me dislike/look down on Moses, but I had to roll my eyes at the fact that even as Moses was steeling himself for the possibility that he might have to kill his doggy friend, everybody else was making it worse by telling him that he couldn't even think about that. I'm sorry, I thought Moses was right. Good for him that the ending turned out so easy, but they NEVER considered that it was the black fog that was making Giito(however you romanize it) go berserk? Never mind the fact that it was the cause of ALL the problems in the other Character Quests?

And now I'm nearing the end of the adventures of Jay and Evil Gudelhian...I mean Solon. Jay's Character Quest is all about child abuse, and I have to question the wisdom of making Jay's evil abusive sadistic foster father sound like Evil Gudelhian. Well, Tales of Rebirth had Evil Tenchi as a pointless villain... Anyway, every word out of Solon's mouth is golden. He spends most of his time beating Jay, verbally abusing Jay, laughing, and acting like a fruitball. At least you get a little more entertainment out of him than Saleh(who wasn't nearly funny enough to be a good motiveless villain) It all made me feel very sorry for Jay, and I wonder how it will go down in the US version, considering that the localizers had the brilliantly stupid idea to make Jay sound like a grown man, even though he's a tiny little thing and obviously hasn't gone through puberty yet. Anyway, I feel very sorry for Jay, and I've even sorrier that I made any parallels between his voice and Killua's. I will never live down the shame. Jay had many emotional scenes in his Character Quest and his seiyuu had the decency not to choke on them. I hear she's only 22 or 23 so I'm really impressed.

Speaking of voices, what gave Namco the idea to hire such a no-talent seiyuu to play the lead in Tales of the Abyss?
