There's nothing like reducing 3 handwritten pages down to a paragraph in the editing process.

I had actually typed more than this, but I deleted it because talking about the writing process makes me crabby sometimes. =_=

Since the ghetto Shaw's in Hamden did not stock my precious plain organic instant oatmeal, I picked up a bag of their organic steel-cut oats last weekend. I used the cooking method in The Kitchen Detective, albeit with a little less salt the second time I made them. They took a little over a half hour to make. It's amazing how much less sweetener you need when you're eating steel-cut oats. Compared to it, instant has no taste and no texture. And you can save the leftovers!

Speaking of instant oatmeal...and instant cocoa...and other such things, must everything be fortified with calcium? I can't find a single brand of hot cocoa that doesn't have calcium carbonate added. I know that calcium is important, but adding it to prepared food makes it taste like Tums have been dissolved in it, and gives me heartburn. Half of the reason why I had to stop eating brand-name oatmeal is because of that damned calcium carbonate.
