I've been writing so much over the past few days that I think my brain exploded. I have to rest for a day. I usually write every day, but in addition to brain explode, I injured my hand(not the one I favor, but it's hard to write with only one hand). Also, my stomach is bothering me. I dedicate today to doing nothing.
I went outside today to water some plants one-handed and I noticed that my neighbor's new cat was sitting in his(?) usual spot in OUR yard. This is the first time I've seen him...apparently he's not friendly but he's doesn't bolt right when he sees you, but only if you come within a few feet of him and as soon as your back is turned, he starts to walk out again. Yesterday I sat on the lawn a few yards away from him, not facing him, and he actually stayed in place, staring at me, until I decided to go inside. I put some catnip in his "spot" and the results were pretty funny. Well, he looked like he needed to lighten up a bit...
Today, he was still in the same spot. I wondered if he could stick around now, but he started to inch away when I got within a few yards of him, so I decided I should leave him alone. As I was leaving, who did I see but a very familiar looking black cat!
At first I thought it was a different but very similar looking cat to my beloved black kitty, but she seemed to recognize me. I couldn't find the trademark white spot on her neck right away, but after she came after me and started headbutting me and wrapping her entire body around my legs(purring all the while), I saw the white spot under her collar. I haven't seen her in almost a year--I thought she was bigger than that! And to my surprise, the new cat, the one who didn't want to come near me, started to walk toward us!
I could tell Black Kitty was scared. She always runs away when she sees another cat. And the new cat wouldn't back off, even when I walked over to him. It's like he was trying to stare me down. I figured I didn't want to make him angry, and I couldn't tell if he was just curious or if he wanted to chase Black Kitty away(she's been run out by other cats before, even when she was there first--she's very submissive around other cats), but I didn't want him attacking her, so I just called to her and led her up the hill and onto our deck, away from the other cat. Luckily, she always responds whenever somebody calls her. She was really desperate for affection--I had Lauren come over and she had to be petted by both of us for about 15 minutes, and then she tried to come into the house. She also rubbed herself over every object she could come in contact with. Poor kitty. ^_^
I feel bad, because Black Kitty is really needy. Lucas isn't coming home until the end of the month, so I guess there's no harm in me playing with her now, at least. Too bad she belongs to somebody else! If she didn't, I'd take her in a minute, and make sure she was safe for Lucas to be around before he came home. Then again, she's probably be miserable in my house--she'd run away from Lucas, for sure! I feel silly for getting involved in a cat turf war, but she was here first, dammit! It's so sad to see that she won't even come near my yard unless there's a human being there!
As you can see, I don't get out a lot.
