Maybe the term I'm looking for is "ambitiously bad".

I remember some SyFy movie that was pretty funny--I think it was called Alien Apocalypse or something, and it featured these giant praying mantis aliens that all sounded like characters from South Park. I don't think it was supposed to be funny.
