I'm planning on selling a rerooted Draculaura in the next few weeks...stay tuned if you're interested. ^_^

Last night Lauren and I watched this movie from the 70's called Lies My Father Told Me. I quite liked it even though it only got 3 stars. ^^;;; It's about this little boy living in a Jewish ghetto in Montreal in the 1920's, and his relationship with his maternal grandfather. The movie wasn't perfect and filled me with rage at the injustice of it all, but I would have given it an extra half star. I haven't watched very many movies with similar subject matter.

I still haven't set Frankie's hair. I haven't had time and the stovetop is always occupied. By something I'm making, that is. ^^;;;;

Nobody has crazier dreams than me.

You know how if you have something you need to do the next day, you'll dream about doing it?

Cut for disgustingness featuring a classic movie actor who's been dead for at least 25 years )

Cook's Illustrated's Oatmeal Snack Cake with Broiled Icing is fabulous.

I just finished Chapter 2 of Sora no Kiseki SC last night. It ended with an awesome boss battle fighting a bunch of giant worms and I died like 6 times, mainly because Tita was a fixed party member and she gets killed in like 2 hits. Her 1,500 HP healing Craft is useful, but all in all, she's not very good, and I can't stand her because she's an insipid loli. All the characters do is gush over how cute she is, and her voice is really aggravating. What real-life 12-year-old sounds and acts like that? I suppose I shouldn't be singling her out, as it's prevalent in pretty much all manga, anime, and Japanese video games to have 12-year-olds act like 8-year-olds. It's just a sickening fetish. Reminds me of all those fanboys who are into Sasami.

::waits for the rage-filled responses of the diehard lovers of fictional underage girls::

I actually finished rerooting Anzu, my blue-haired Wicked Style III Aika, last week, but she doesn't have any clothes. ;_; Neither does Clarisse, my soon-to-be finished rerooted Maya. Too bad...

Success!

It was actually a successpie this time! And the crust even browned on the bottom, not just on the top! It cracked a little on the edges...but what can I say? It's a homemade crust.

It was pretty damn good. Probably the best apple pie I've ever had, but I haven't had many good apple pies, period. ^^;;;;;

A few weeks ago, I made an apple failurepie. I'm not claiming full responsibility--I mixed Braeburn and Granny Smith apples because it was all they had at Hickory Hill and they tasted funny--but I probably should have put the pie in the oven for 10 minutes longer, because the apples weren't fully cooked. =_= The egg wash made the pie look more done than it really was, and I should have compensated more for the fact that I was using a glass pie plate and had to lower the oven temperature. Also, I had a hell of a time getting the crust in the pie plate intact. I did manage to make a nice-looking pie, but it was hell.

I was all set to give up on apple, but I wanted to exorcise that demon. This was my last chance. So, I made the pie today. It's still cooling, so I can't taste it yet. I hope it's good. It looks good! It smells good!

This is what I did differently.:

1. Used a metal pie plate so I didn't have to lower the oven temperature.
2. Used Cortland apples.
3. Put the rolled-out pie crust in the refrigerator on a baking sheet to make it easier to get into the pie plate without tearing.
4. Baked it for 15 minutes longer.

I'll report on it later. ^^
